1. Digital devices should not be out or on. This includes cell phones, tablets, headphones, etc. Smart watches should only be used to look at the time.

2. Computers & the internet are tools for school. Students should only use the internet for assignments, not for games, music, social media, messaging, etc.

3. Keep your hands to yourself

4. Do not run or yell in the hallway

5. Be on time to class. 3 tardies = an office referral

6. As soon as you enter the classroom, be seated and begin your assignment.

7. Participate positively in class. Keep your head up, no sleeping.

8. Hall Passes are required to leave the classroom. Return to class in a timely manner.

9. Be appropriate in the restroom. Donโ€™t make a mess, yell, or bother others. Use the restroom and leave.

10. Respect the gym and cafeteria. Follow the rules, clean up after yourself, and treat others respectfully.

11. No hats, headphones, hoods, bandanas, or distracting headwear including animal ears.

12. No outside food or drink unless it is water. Food cannot be brought from the cafeteria after breakfast or lunch. Gum is at the teacher's discretion. Food brought for lunch is an exception but must only be out during lunch.

*Students may not participate in a Grizzly Growl even if they have received 3D three times or more and/or have had a suspension

SCMS Grizzly Dress Code

These rules are in addition to those in the dress code section of the Code of Conduct handbook for Spencer County Public Schools. 

1. Clothing should not be see-through and may not reveal private areas, midriffs, or undergarments.

2. Pants or jeans are to be worn at the waist (no sagging). Holes will not be permitted above the knee. 

3. No hats, headphones, hoods, bandanas, sunglasses or distracting headwear (i.e. animal ears).

4. Shoes must be worn at all times. No house shoes or slippers are allowed at any time. Foot attire will not be an excuse not to participate in the daily school routine.

5. No spaghetti straps, strapless, low cut, or crop shirts. The holes on the side should not extend lower than the underarm. Crop shirts are prohibited. If a student is caught wearing one, they must change shirts. If a sleeveless shirt is worn, straps must be at least 2 inches wide. 

6. Blankets, pillows, & stuffed animals are not allowed in school. 

7. Clothing may not: Depict or allude to profanity,  Depict, advertise, or advocate the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, or other controlled substances,  Depict or allude to pornography, nudity, or sexual acts,  Depict or allude to hate speech and imagery targeting groups based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religious affiliation or any other protected groups, and must not threaten the health and safety of any student or staff. 

8. No headphones or earbuds during the school day. 

9. Knives of any kind are prohibited from entering school grounds. If found on campus, they will be confiscated, and a parent will be contacted. 

10. No unnecessary writing/drawing on any clothing or body parts with ink or sharpies.


The enforcement of the dress code is the responsibility of all staff. If a student violates the dress code,  he/she will receive a minor referral and should be sent to the front office to change the clothing that violates the dress code.  Refer to the Behavior Matrix for further repercussions.
