Last night was a big night for Spencer County athletes! In Shelbyville, the Bears baseball team took down the Collins Titans in 9 innings to win the 30th District championship. Down the road in Louisville, the girls and boys track and field teams captured their own regional title, besting teams from Shelby County, CAL, DeSales, Doss, Henry County, Jeffersontown, Valley, Waggener, and Western. Congratulations to all these athletes and coaches for all their hard work!

Today, the Class of 2025 kicked off the beginning of the end with their traditional tour of Spencer County Schools. Pictured here, seniors walked the halls of TES one final time before graduation. We love all of our senior traditions, but this is one of our favorites!

While everyoneโs running; weโre recruiting! Students are racing for the buses. Teachers are sprinting for the exits. And HR? Weโre sprinting for rรฉsumรฉs.
While everyone else is kicking off their sandals, weโre kicking off hiring season for the 2025โ26 school year at Spencer County Schools. Weโre on the lookout for top-notch certified and classified staff who can bring energy, heart, and a solid coffee game to our team.
Apply now and give us a reason to stop refreshing the applicant portal.

Our Office of Educational Technology has been made aware of a hazardous trend circulating on social media platforms, particularly TikTok. Students are being encouraged to insert conductive materialsโsuch as pencils, aluminum foil, or paper clipsโinto USB and other ports on school-issued Chromebooks. The intent is to create sparks and smoke, often leading to fires.
This behavior poses significant health and safety risks. Tampering with electronic devices can cause short circuits, potentially igniting fires. Such actions can render Chromebooks inoperable.
We urge all parents and guardians to have immediate conversations with their children about the dangers of participating in this or any similar challenges.

April was an exciting month at SCHS, filled with memorable events and proud moments for our students and staff. Weโre excited to share some of the highlights and photos that captured these special occasions!
Prom at Mellwood Art Center
On April 26, SCHS students celebrated Prom in style at the beautiful Mellwood Art Center. It was a night to remember, filled with dancing, laughter, and unforgettable memories. A sincere thank you goes out to Mrs. Hinton and Mrs. Kesler for their incredible work in planning the event, as well as to all those who helped with setup and cleanup โ your efforts made the night a huge success!
Career Fair
SCHS hosted its annual career fair on April 16, with over 30 employers from the region in attendance. Students from the junior and senior classes had the chance to hear about full and part-time employment opportunities, registered apprenticeship programs and network with employers that offer tuition assistance and other hiring incentive programs. A special thank you to all who made this day possible for our upperclassmen!
Senior Defenses
On April 30, our seniors gathered at the Spencer County Extension Office to present their senior project websites to panels of evaluators. This important milestone marks the culmination of their hard work and dedication throughout the year. Thank you to Mrs. Cook and Mrs. Harrod for their guidance and commitment in preparing our seniors for this achievement!

We want to give a huge shout out to Grace Motyka, a junior engineering pathway student who was 1 of 60 rising high school senior students selected from over 145 applicants for a spot at the University of Kentucky's Civil Engineering's Summer Engineering Exploration Camp called SEEK. Mrs. Combs recommended Grace for the spot and Grace wrote a fantastic essay along with submitting her application. The week features hands-on learning opportunities, guest speakers from engineering companies, and field trips to active project sites. Students will stay in dorms on UKโs campus along with civil engineering college students who will serve as mentors for the campers. Throughout the week, campers will engage in activities to learn the fundamentals of civil engineering by participating in hands-on experiential learning activities. The campโs emphasis is learning by doing! Way to go Grace! Grace is an amazing engineering student and a great representative of Spencer County High School.
